THE IDEA

project193 is a global art project demonstrating the equality of people who live together in a wonderful world that we must protect. The number 193 identifies the 193 nations that come together in the UN currently.

With each project193 I would like to raise awareness as the same that all people are equal - no matter what gender, color, religion, culture, origin ... and they are using same items. Each project193 deals with an unifying theme and a specific object or contribution is required from each country regarding to this theme.

With these 193 individual but similar country contribution the artist Volker Hoffmann will form one unique work of art. This may be a picture, a sculpture or an installation ... depending on the requested items to the topic.

HOW CAN I JOIN?

All people are equal - no matter what gender, color, religion, culture, origin ... Of course there are differences, but all people are in their nature the same no matter what language they speak, what customs they have and where they live. A bird is a bird, whether eagle or vulture. A fish is a fish, whether salmon or tuna. Why should it be different just for the people?

WHY 193?

Each project193 consists of respectively 193 individual contributions and symbolize the equality and unity of the people on earth. The 193 countries are the countries combined officially in the United Nations at the time of project start.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Each project has one unifying theme and one special contribution is required from each country. This is always the same item. We collect these 193 similar items and after receiving all one work of art based on the unifying theme will be formed. The design of the final work of art is the responsibility of the artist Volker Hoffmann.
